The Arches Dean Clough Wedding Photography, Halifax, Nicola & Chris

We were both genuinely gobsmacked when we saw our wedding photos - including the cover image for our preview pictures, so much so I cried at the cover photo choice and had to compose myself before we opened the rest of them up! They are absolutely GORGEOUS

Lets talk about Nicola & Chris!

I’d had these two booked in for quite some time before we could finally get the party on the road, but my oh my, it was worth the wait! If you’re reading this in the future, remind yourself of the record breaking heatwave of 2022 (apologies if memories of you regretting not getting the car air-con fixed whilst you sat in 5PM M62 rush hour traffic just come flooding back). Nicola & Chris’ day was the penultimate Saturday before said heatwave, and with it came a nice taste of things to come.

It was an absolute bloody scorcher!

Fear not. These two had the hindsight to have their wedding on the ground floor of one of the old Dean Clough Mill buildings. With stone walls a metre thick we were blessed with cool cave like temperatures all day long, which I for one was thankful for!

The Arches was a nice surprise for me. It’s fairly local to me, but in my 4 years or so in this wedding photography game I hadn’t had the pleasure to venture over to it. It’s classy, whilst still having a modern yet comfortable vibe. The high ceilings and large arched windows that run the length of the west side of the building make for such a pleasing and natural look the photos (in a photographer’s world some interesting natural light always trumps artificial lighting!). I also appreciate there not being an overtly obvious fire exit sign in every corner of the room (a good hour or so editing in Photoshop saved right there!).

The whole wedding was at The Arches, making the day have a nice and relaxed feel to it. One part of the day seamlessly flowed into the next without any fuss, so much so that not long into the drinks reception I looked back into the room that the ceremony had been held in to find that it had already been almost fully set up. They don’t mess about here!

Naomi was the coordinator of the wedding bringing it altogether effortlessly. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was always on hand, whether it be to cross check our timings, or help gather people together for the confetti throw!

Have a look below and see for yourself how much of an amazing day it was. A stunning couple, gorgeous setting, and weather that belongs in a different country! What more could I ask for?!
