Destination Weddings
Authentic, storytelling wedding photography for celebrations away from home.
A destination wedding has its own kind of energy. The build up, the travel, the setting, the food, the warmth, the atmosphere and everyone you love being together somewhere special.
My approach is to photograph all of that naturally. The fun, the emotion, the quiet bits, the party and the feeling of the place, without pulling the day away from what it should be.
The same relaxed approach, wherever the wedding is
Just because the wedding is abroad does not mean the photography needs to feel bigger, louder or more staged.
I still want you to be right in the middle of your day. Seeing your guests, having a drink, laughing at the table, walking through the streets, dancing properly and enjoying the place you have chosen.
The portraits matter. The group photos matter. The setting matters too. My job is to handle those parts with care, while making sure they never take over the feeling of the day.
“They perfectly reflect the warmth, joy and fun we felt all day, and looking through them brings it all back instantly.”
Kind words from a past couple
Photography that follows the feeling of the day
Some of the best destination wedding photographs come from the moments around the main events. Guests arriving, glasses being passed around, people finding their seats, someone laughing across the table, the evening starting to loosen up.
I photograph those moments as they happen, then step in when a little guidance is needed for portraits, family photos or a particular part of the day.
It is still your wedding day first. The photography should add to it, not take you out of it.
Planned with proper breathing room
For destination weddings, travel is planned carefully.
I would usually arrive at least the day before the day before your wedding. So if your wedding is on a Saturday, I would normally aim to arrive on the Thursday.
That gives a sensible buffer for flights, delays or changes to travel plans. It also means that by the time your wedding day arrives, I’m already there, settled and ready.
It also gives me time to get a feel for the venue, the light, the layout and the surrounding area before the wedding begins.
Wedding day coverage
The wedding day itself is planned around your timings, locations and what is happening. The aim is to document the full atmosphere of the day, from the build up through to the evening.
Optional extra coverage
If you are having welcome drinks, a relaxed dinner or something planned the evening before, we can talk about whether it makes sense to include it.
Clear travel planning
Once I know the location and rough timings, I can put together a quote that includes the photography, travel and accommodation needed.
A calm process
Before the wedding, we will go through the timings, locations and any important details properly, so everything feels clear before the trip begins.
A few practical things
Some couples want all the detail straight away. Others just want a feel for the approach first. These answers are here when they are useful.
How early do you arrive for a destination wedding?
Usually at least the day before the day before the wedding.
For a Saturday wedding, I would normally aim to arrive on the Thursday. This gives a sensible buffer for travel and means I am already there before the wedding day itself.
Can you cover the evening before?
Yes, if it makes sense for your plans.
If you are having welcome drinks, dinner or a relaxed gathering the evening before, we can talk about adding coverage for that. It is not something every couple needs, but for some destination weddings it can be a lovely part of the story.
Do you photograph the whole wedding day?
Yes. The wedding day itself is still the main focus.
We would plan the coverage around your timings, locations and what is happening across the day, making sure there is enough time to document the full story properly.
How do we plan everything with you before the wedding?
Around 10 weeks before the wedding, you’ll receive a questionnaire so I can gather timings, locations, family photo details, supplier information and anything else useful.
Then, around 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding, we’ll have a video call to go through everything properly.
For destination weddings, that call is especially helpful because we can talk through travel between locations, events around the wedding day and anything that needs a bit of extra thought.
Do you only photograph weddings in Europe?
No. Europe is the most common, but I am open to weddings further afield too.
The best thing to do is send over the location and date, and I can let you know what would be involved.
How do destination wedding quotes work?
Destination wedding quotes are put together individually.
Once I know your date, location and a rough idea of what you have planned, I can give you a clear quote for the coverage you need. That will account for the wedding day photography, travel, accommodation and any additional coverage you might want around the wedding itself.
Everything is explained clearly from the beginning, so you know exactly what is included.
“It has been a joy to relive through his photography. Andy captured our day beautifully and we are so grateful to be able to look back on these in years to come.”
