ROGERTHORPE MANOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, PONTEFRACT// MIRIAM & PHIL // 21.07.19 // HIGHLIGHTS GALLERY

On Sunday the 21st of July 2019 I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Miriam’s and Phil’s beautiful wedding day at Rogerthorpe Manor, Pontefract. After a few days of hot, tropical, thunderstorm kind of weather, it all came together on the day and was that perfect outdoor wedding day kind of weather (hot, but not too hot, just right). After all, Miriam had told me that the registrars have the right to cancel their outdoor ceremony if the weather were to be ‘too hot’! How crazy is that! ha

I joined Miriam and her girls getting ready at Rogerthorpe manor in the morning and had a great laugh with them. It was great that they were all in one room getting ready for together, helping each other out with hair and make up, and popping open the prosecco early on to calm some of those pesky nerves!

Phil was also at the venue from early on, making some finishing touches to the reception room, and having a little rehearsal with his military groomsmen. As Phil is in the RAF he was fully suited and booted in his military uniform and following the tradition of military weddings he had planned for there to be an Arch of Swords for himself and Miriam to walk through, as a salute to the newly married couple.

After capturing the guys welcoming some guests I headed back up to capture the finishing moments of bridal prep. The nerves has started to show, so had the excitement, and before we knew it the time had come to head down to the ceremony!

Miriam and Phil has added a few neat personal touches to this ceremony which made it extra special. It started off with the combining of sands, representing how they will now be inseparable, which I hadn’t seen done before. They had also written some of their own vows to each other, which really got everyone’s eyes watering! After some lovely readings and sealing the marriage with kiss, the Arch of Swords was made and Miriam and Phil walked through as the new Mr and Mrs Pinder!

I always love this part of the day when all the friends and family come over and congratulate the couple. I carried on capturing these moments naturally whilst the guests enjoyed a few drinks in the sun and some lovely looking canapés. Before heading in for the wedding breakfast we captured some group shots and some quick and casual portraits of the lovely couple! Miriam and Phil sorted a meal for me from the adjoined pub…and what can I say, I’ve not had a pie like that in a long time - delicious! Thanks you two!

After quickly editing a gallery of photos from the day so far to be on display in the evening, I headed back into the wedding reception to capture the speeches! It’s always one of my favorite moments of the day, and these speeches didn’t disappoint! They were those kind of speeches that have just the right mix of comedy and emotion, making for some really funny and meaningful speeches, with Miriam even breaking tradition a little and giving a great little speech of her own!

Everyone headed back outside to make the most of the glorious weather whilst the Rogerthorpe manor team turned the room around ready for the evening reception. The guys changed into their evening uniform, that dare I say looked even more dapper than the morning outfit (if that was possible!), and before we knew it the time had come for the first dance!

Miriam had told me they had planned a bit of a routine, but seriously, I really weren’t expecting what I saw - it was amazing! Their first dance was routine to the the sound A Million Dreams from the musical, The Greatest Showman! They really wowed us all with their moves and made it one of the most memorable first dances I’ve ever seen! The dancefloor was soon filled with their friends and family dancing the night away with them!

What a really special day it was! Thank you so much Miriam and Phil for letting me be the one to capture your amazing day and enjoy looking through the initial highlights below!
